Julia Baker

Occupational Therapist

I was raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana attending Saint Jude Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School in 2004. I completed my undergraduate degree at Bradley University in Peoria, IL, double majoring in Health Science and Sociology as well as minoring in Psychology. I completed my Master’s of Occupational Therapy with a certificate in Gerontology at the University of Indianapolis in December of 2010. Shortly after graduation, my husband, Steve, and I moved to Savannah, GA so he could work for Gulfstream Aerospace. I began my career working primarily in stroke, cardiac, and orthopedic rehabilitation.

During our cross-country move, Steve and I discovered that we were expecting our first child. After a terrible experience with the first OB/GYN practice I tried in Georgia, I went on the search for a more natural-friendly, holistic experience. I was blessed to find The Midwife Group Women’s Health and Birth Center, one of the oldest free-standing birth centers in the country. During our time in Georgia, we had three beautiful natural births (all girls!) at the Savannah birth center.

We moved back to Fort Wayne in May of 2016 to be closer to family, and when we were expecting daughter #4, I was again on the hunt for a natural-friendly, holistic practice. I was blessed to find Fertility and Midwifery Care Center that not only matched our birth experiences in Savannah but also was a match for our faith and values.

After four pregnancies and deliveries, my occupational therapy interests expanded into women’s health. I completed the Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist course, and my mind was blown. I am here to challenge the status quo that urinary incontinence, low back pain, and pelvic pain are the price we pay for motherhood. As an occupational therapist, I look specifically at the activities that have meaning and value to you while problem-solving body mechanics and breathing patterns to make these activities easier and reduce pain.

I look forward to working with you at Fertility and Midwifery Care Center!
