In this episode of All Things Women’s Health, Dr. Chris Stroud sits down with Anne Koehl, a founding member of the Women’s Care Center, one of the largest and most influential pregnancy resource center networks in America. With 37 centers across 12 states, this organization has quietly transformed how pregnancy support is delivered nationwide.
The Power of Truth and Ultrasound
During their conversation, Anne shares that 98% of women who receive care at their Fort Wayne locations choose life. This remarkable success rate stems from a unique but simple approach. They provide comprehensive information about all three options for pregnant women – parenting, adoption, and abortion. They also provide pregnancy testing and ultrasounds, all completely free.
Anne says, “Women don’t choose abortion, it chooses them.” She emphasizes that women consider abortion because of complex circumstances. To help, the center’s counselors focus on listening and identifying practical solutions to obstacles they are facing.
From Crisis to Kindergarten: More than a Pregnancy Resource Center
Anne also explains how the Women’s Care Center’s support extends beyond pregnancy confirmation and support. Their “cradle to kindergarten” approach includes parenting classes, birth preparation, nutrition guidance, and a coupon program for families to get everything from diapers to cribs—all at no charge.
A Personal Journey
Anne also shares the beautiful story of how she got involved in the pro-life movement. As a nursing student in 1973 after Roe v. Wade was decided, she recalls how, she watched nurses care for premature babies. She saw the contradiction between that care and the Supreme Court’s ruling that unborn children didn’t deserve protection. The experience shaped her lifelong mission of protecting moms and their babies, and she’s been involved in pregnancy resource center work ever since.
Listen now to discover how ultrasounds change minds, why success requires addressing desperation, and what really happens inside America’s premier pregnancy resource center.
