Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement

What does “Bio-Identical” hormone replacement mean?

Bio-identical indicates that we use hormones that are chemically identical to what our body naturally produces.

What is a Pellet?

Hormone pellets are tiny “packets” about the size of a grain of rice. These pellets are inserted under your skin, in the buttock where they release a consistent dose of hormones as they dissolve.

Pellets contain a natural plant source of testosterone. A compounding pharmacist, using strict federal guidelines, compounds the hormone utilized in the pellets.

Why Pellets?

  • Steady dose delivered over several months, rather than levels falling/rising within the course of several hours, days, or weeks
  • No chance of user error- you can “set it and forget it”
  • Simplicity. Only a few office visits each year

How it works

1. Consult

Schedule a one-on-one consult with our team. This will include a discussion of symptoms, comprehensive lab work, a treatment plan, and a discussion of cost.

2. Procedure

The hormone pellet insertion process itself is an outpatient procedure that takes place in the office—and it’s faster and easier than you may think: The entire procedure takes less than 10 minutes.

While you should avoid strenuous physical activity for a few days, you can largely return to your normal activities immediately.

Once implanted, the pellets gradually begin to release hormones. While the results aren’t immediate, many people feel a difference within a week of insertion.

For most, the hormone pellet insertion process is painless, although you may experience some slight discomfort, swelling, irritation, bruising, and/or redness afterward. However, these are typically mild and resolve quickly. As with any subcutaneous treatment, there is a risk of infection, but this risk is small and can be minimized with proper aftercare.

3. Follow Up

Depending on your body’s metabolism, you will follow up with the provider every 3-5 months for insertion of your next pellet(s).

Small hormone changes can make a huge impact to optimize your life.
