This is Sara Rothgeb and she is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She feels blessed to have become a team member with Fertility and Midwifery Care Center in August of 2019.
She was born in Illinois, but has lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana most of her life. She is the youngest of three children; she has two older brothers, whom she is extremely close to. Her parents were childhood friends, who became high school sweethearts, and have been married for 40 years. She attended schools with Northwest Allen County, and graduated from Carroll High School in 2007. Her family is extremely close and have been her greatest supporters and a great source of knowledge and guidance throughout her life.
Her passion for nursing and caring for others started at a young age and she feels it is her only calling. Her parents supported her completely in her journey to become a nurse. She attended the University of Saint Francis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013. After nursing school, she initially worked in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital. While that work was exciting and rewarding, when an opportunity presented itself to become a labor and delivery nurse at Dupont Hospital, she made the change. It was there she found her true passion for fertility and women’s health, which eventually lead her back to the University of Saint Francis to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. The University of Saint Francis encouraged her to think holistically, addressing the spiritual, mental, and physical needs of a person. She has carried this concept through her nursing career and into graduate school and now practice.
While in nursing school, she met her husband, Josh, a native of Fort Wayne, through mutual friends. He has been a great supporter and partner through all of their adventures together. They have three little girls, Juliette, Isabella, and Lillian and their dog, Ava. As a family, they love to spend time together baking, playing games, watching movies, or taking trips to different zoos and parks. Josh and Sara love to read, as much as they can with little ones in the house. Sara also loves spending time with her mom and brothers, watching Notre Dame football games, visiting the campus, and going to games when possible.
Sara coming to know the team at Fertility and Midwifery Care Center has been an adventure, with God bringing us together in all our lives both personally and professionally. She initially came to know and admire the physicians and nurse-midwives while she was working as a labor and delivery nurse, caring for FMCC patients in the hospital. Observing the interactions FMCC’s team had with each other, with the hospital staff, and with the families they cared for, Sara recognized the same drive that she has to have faith at work in the process, and in her ability to treat her patients as individuals and in a compassionate, holistic manner. In 2017, she became one of FMCC’s patients while struggling with fertility issues of her own. Then while in her Nurse Practitioner program she had the opportunity to do a rotation in FMCC’s office. She is very excited to start this next chapter in her life as a Nurse Practitioner and is a wonderful addition to our team.
