Dr. Blaise C. Milburn

Dr. Milburn

Dr. Blaise Milburn was born and raised in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, a small community north of Pittsburgh along the Ohio River where he attended a small private school and was a three-sport athlete through high school.  He spent his freshman year of college at Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Feeling strongly that he wanted to participate in athletics at the collegiate level and live a little closer to home, he decided to transfer to Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio during his sophomore year.  At Kenyon, he became an all-conference baseball player while pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology.  During that time, Dr. Milburn experienced a deepening of his Catholic faith and developed a great appreciation for the beautiful teachings of the Church, especially those related to life and marriage.  Shortly after graduating Cum Laude from Kenyon, Dr. Milburn married his high school sweetheart, Sarah, in 2008 and they moved to Fairfax, Virginia, where Sarah began working as a chemical engineer for ExxonMobil.

During their first year of marriage Dr. Milburn applied to medical school and was accepted into The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in the fall of 2009.  During his third-year rotations he was impressed by both the medical and surgical breadth and depth of OB/GYN as a specialty.  He found it very rewarding to care for women through the continuum of their lives.  At the same time, he increasingly felt the need to incorporate his faith into his future medical practice, something he felt was particularly needed in OB/GYN.  All told, the specialty was a perfect fit for him.

After medical school the Milburns and their growing family, which then consisted of a son (Coleman) and daughter (Madeleine) born during the first and third years of medical school, relocated to Buffalo, New York where Dr. Milburn began his OB/GYN residency at Sisters of Charity Hospital.  In Buffalo, their family was blessed with three more boys: twins (Aidan and Cullen) born during his first year, and another son (Clayton) born during his third year.  It was during residency that Dr. Milburn developed a strong desire to gain additional expertise to serve women struggling with infertility and other difficult gynecologic problems.  He saw the pain and suffering caused by these issues, and how they were often not improved, and sometimes even exacerbated by artificial reproductive technologies and other common treatment methods.  This led Dr. Milburn to pursue training in medical and surgical NaProTECHNOLOGY and Creighton Model Fertility Care at the Pope Paul VI Institute in Omaha, NE following completion of residency in 2017.

During their year in Omaha, the Milburns were blessed with their sixth child and second daughter (Maura).  Having completed the fellowship in 2018, Dr. Milburn’s desire to provide morally and clinically excellent OB/GYN care and his conviction that a combined OB/GYN nurse-midwife practice is the best care model for patients brought him to the Fertility and Midwifery Care Center.

After nine years of medical training and six children born in three different states, the Milburns are looking forward to settling in the Fort Wayne.  Dr. Milburn enjoys spending most of his free time with his family and sharing his sports knowledge and passion with his children.  He remains an ardent Pittsburgh sports fan with a special love for his Pittsburgh Penguins.  He is very excited to join Drs. Stroud and Martin, and the entire FMCC team in caring for the women and families of Fort Wayne and surrounding areas.
